correct structure?

I was hoping that since this is such a broad area of chemistry, that the main points of each section could be listed here (as I have done with periodic table), and use the main article link to go into each in more detail.

I realise that there was some excellent work contributed relating to the scientists, however I don't feel it was really the page to discuss them. I made sure to add a link to them from the 'periodic table' sub-section.

If there are any problems with this restructuring please discuss them here.
