Mass
Subject: Applied Mathematics & Physics
Level Ordinary & Honours

Mass is defined as a quantitative description of the amount of matter in an object. It is commonly confused with weight in everyday usage, however these are two different physical concepts.

[edit] Applications & Formulae

The mass of an object can be defined in a formula using Newton's second law of motion

m\ =\ \frac{F}{a}\

Where:

  • m is the mass of the object.
  • F is the vector force acting on the object.
  • a is the acceleration that the object experiences due to the force F.
