RISE OF HITLER
- 1918: Weimar Republic Formed
- January 1919: Paris Peace Conference- Treaty of Versailles
- 1921: Reparations of £6000 million ordered
- January 1923: Allied Troops invade Ruhr- strikes.
- 1923: Munich Putsch. Hitler jailed.
- 1924: Dawes Plan ( Stresemann)
- 1925: Locarno Pact. Hitler freed. SS formed.
- 1926: Germany joins League of Nations.
- 1928: Election- Nazi’s win twelve seats.
- 1929: Young Plan. Hitler leads a campaign against it.
- October 1929: Death of Stresemann. Wall Street Crash. Start of the Great Depression.
- 1930: Election- Nazi’s win 5 million seats, the communists win 1 million. Bruning wished to cut wages and social spending- Reichstag refused- Hindenberg enforced it by decree.
- 1932: Three elections.
- March: President: Hitler VS Hindenberg. Received 37% votes. Von Papen was the new chancellor.
- July: General Election. The Nazis won 230 seats of 608 while the communists won 89. Attempts at a coalition failed.
- November: Election- Nazis win 186 seats.
- Jan 1933: Hitler becomes Chancellor- Von Papen felt he could control him.
- Feb 1933: Reichstag building burnt down. Blames on Communists who were banned.
- March 1933: Election- only 44% of votes.
