Help:Creating a new page

To contribute to Zulunotes, all you need to do is register an account (which takes 1 minute!) and then you can start editing away.

As the site grows, you will find more and more articles covering topics you are learning about, but if a page you’re looking for is not there, you can always create it!

Below is an example of the steps involved in creating a page on A Tuft of Flowers, the poem by Robert Frost, which is on the English course.

Contents

Search

Before you create any page, search for it using the search box on the left, to make sure someone else hasn’t created the same page, and to avoid doubling up. For this example type “A Tuft of Flowers” and hit ‘’’go’’’. Be sure to use appropriate capitals and correct spelling. You will then get the following:

There is no page titled ":A Tuft of Flowers". You can create this page

You can then click to create that page.

Create

Alternatively, you can create a page by first creating a link to it. So, in this example, you could edit the existing Robert frost page, and under the Poetry section, type the following:

[[A Tuft of Flowers]]

This will then create a link to the Tuft of Flowes page. As this page does not yet exist, the link will be in red, so when you click it you will begin editing that page.

Editing

Once you begin editing the page, you can type whatever information you know about that topic. If there are similar pages you should have a look at their layout, to keep a uniform style. So in the case of the example, another Robert Frost poem, or even another poem by any Poet on the English course, should provide a good template for your new page.

For hints on how to edit, e.g. make links, headings, bold text etc. see Help:Editing

Format

To keep the site as uniform as possible, any page on a topic (ie. Not a subject page like Mathematics or a category page like Poetry) should begin with information about it’s place in the leaving cert. Information such as subject, higher/ordinary and paper should be included here. See Ordinary Differential Equations for an example. For the “Tuft of Flowers” example, the page could start with

This topic is part of the English course, under the Poetry section of Paper II

If this poem was Higher level only, it could be stated here.
