A personal response to Patrick Kavanagh
From ZuluNotes - Free Leaving Cert Notes
'O commemorate me where there is water' , symbolises the need to be remembered aswell as Kavanagh's love for the canal. Patrick Kavanagh is a great poet and wants to be remembered as such, and suffers for his art. He considers himself an outcast but claims that he must be in order to observe people and to contemplate subjects to write about.
